Propane Tank Marketplace wants you to know exactly what to expect from the moment you place an order to the moment your tank arrives.

This policy explains how we process orders, how we ship different types of products, what shipping costs to expect, and what your responsibilities are on delivery day.

Please read it carefully before ordering. If anything is unclear, reach out to us at contact@propanetankmarketplace.com.

Important: All Tanks Ship Empty

Every propane tank and cylinder we sell ships completely empty of propane. This is a federal Department of Transportation (DOT) requirement, and it applies to new, refurbished, and used tanks alike.

We do not ship, sell, or deliver propane gas.

After your tank is delivered, you are responsible for arranging a fill with a licensed propane supplier in your area.

Used and refurbished cylinders may also require a leak check, purge, or recertification by a qualified propane professional before they can be filled. We note this on the product pages, and we encourage you to confirm local availability before ordering.

Order Processing Time

Orders are reviewed and prepared for shipment within [X to X business days] of payment clearing. Processing time does not include weekends or public holidays.

Larger tanks and freight items may require additional lead time before they leave our facility, typically [X to X business days]. These items are prepared, crated, and scheduled with a freight carrier before dispatch.

If an item you ordered has an extended lead time, we will notify you by email.

Orders placed after [CUTOFF TIME, e.g. 2:00 PM ET] or on weekends and holidays begin processing on the next business day.

Where We Ship

We ship to addresses within the [contiguous United States].

Shipments to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and other U.S. territories may be available for certain products at an additional cost, and are quoted on a case by case basis. We do not currently ship internationally.

Not every product ships to every location. Very large stationary, commercial, and underground tanks may be restricted in some areas due to carrier limitations, road access, or local regulations.

If we are unable to deliver an item to your address after you order, we will contact you and offer a full refund or an alternative.

Shipping Methods by Product Type

Our products range from small portable cylinders to large stationary tanks, so we ship them in different ways.

Small and portable cylinders, such as DOT cylinders, forklift tanks, RV tanks, and welding cylinders, generally ship by standard ground carrier (for example UPS, FedEx, or a comparable service).

Stationary ASME tanks and other large or heavy items ship by LTL freight (less than truckload). These deliveries arrive on a truck and are typically curbside, meaning the driver brings the item to the end of your driveway or the nearest accessible point, not into your home or yard.

Large commercial, industrial, and underground tanks ship by specialized freight. These may require additional handling such as a liftgate, forklift, or crane at delivery. They are arranged individually, and we will confirm the details with you before dispatch.

Shipping Costs

Shipping charges depend on the product, its size and weight, your delivery location, and the shipping method required.

All applicable shipping costs are calculated and displayed at checkout before you pay. You will never be charged a shipping fee that was not shown to you before you completed your order.

Depending on your item and address, freight shipments may include additional charges such as:

  • Liftgate service, when you do not have a forklift or loading dock to receive a heavy item
  • Residential delivery, which some freight carriers charge above commercial delivery
  • Limited access or remote area delivery
  • Delivery appointment or notification service
  • Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territory surcharges

Where these charges apply, they are shown at checkout or quoted to you before the order is finalized.

[If you offer free shipping above a threshold, state it here, for example: Orders over $[AMOUNT] qualify for free standard shipping within the contiguous United States. Freight surcharges above may still apply.]

Freight Delivery: What to Expect

Please plan for the following if your order ships by freight.

The freight carrier will contact you to schedule a delivery appointment. Someone aged 18 or older must be present to receive and sign for the shipment.

Delivery is curbside unless you have purchased additional services. You are responsible for moving the item from the curb to its final location, and for having any equipment or help needed to offload a heavy tank, unless liftgate or other services were arranged.

Please make sure a truck can physically reach your address. If the carrier cannot access your location, or if a scheduled delivery is missed and the shipment must be rescheduled or returned, re-delivery or storage fees charged by the carrier may be passed on to you.

Delivery Timeframes

Estimated delivery time is your order processing time plus carrier transit time.

  • Ground shipments (small cylinders): approximately [X to X business days] in transit after processing
  • LTL freight (large tanks): approximately [X to X business days] in transit after processing
  • Specialized freight (commercial, industrial, underground tanks): scheduled individually, typically [X to X weeks]

These are estimates, not guarantees. Transit times can be affected by weather, carrier volume, remote destinations, and other factors outside our control.

Inspect Your Delivery and Report Damage

Please inspect your shipment carefully at the time of delivery, before the driver leaves.

If you see any damage to the packaging, crate, or tank, note it clearly on the delivery receipt or bill of lading before signing, and take photographs. If damage is severe, you may refuse the shipment.

Report any damage or shortage to us at contact@propanetankmarketplace.com within [24 to 48 hours] of delivery, along with your order number and photos.

Damage that is not noted at delivery and reported within this window may not be eligible for a claim, because freight carriers require timely notice to accept liability.

Tracking Your Order

Once your order ships, we will email you tracking information. For freight shipments, we will send the carrier and reference details needed to follow your delivery.

You can also check your order status by signing in to your account at propanetankmarketplace.com.

Incorrect Address and Failed Delivery

Please double check your shipping address at checkout. We are not responsible for delays or additional charges caused by an incorrect or incomplete address provided at the time of order.

If a package is returned to us as undeliverable, we will contact you to arrange re-shipment, which may involve additional shipping charges.

Order Changes and Cancellations

If you need to change or cancel an order, contact us as soon as possible at contact@propanetankmarketplace.com.

We can usually accommodate changes before an order has been processed or handed to the carrier.

Once an item has shipped, especially a freight item, it is handled under our Returns Policy and may be subject to return shipping costs.
