At Propane Tank Marketplace, we want you to know exactly what to expect from the moment you place your order until your propane tank arrives.

This Shipping Policy explains how orders are processed, shipping methods, delivery expectations, estimated shipping times, and your responsibilities when receiving your shipment.

Important: All Tanks Ship Empty

Every propane tank and cylinder sold by Propane Tank Marketplace ships completely empty of propane in accordance with applicable U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

We do not ship, sell, or deliver propane gas.

After delivery, customers are responsible for arranging filling and commissioning through a licensed propane supplier.

Used or refurbished tanks may require inspection, leak testing, purging, or recertification before they are placed into service. Where applicable, this information is disclosed on the product page.

Order Processing

Orders begin processing once payment has been successfully received.

  • Orders are processed within 2–3 business days.

  • Orders placed after 2:00 PM Eastern Time, on weekends, or public holidays begin processing on the next business day.

If an item requires additional preparation time, we will notify you by email.

Shipping Locations

We currently ship throughout the contiguous United States.

Shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and other U.S. territories may be available for selected products and will be quoted individually.

International shipping is not currently available.

If we cannot ship to your location, we will notify you promptly and offer either an alternative solution or a full refund.

Shipping Methods

Our products range from portable propane cylinders to large residential and commercial propane tanks.

Small cylinders, forklift cylinders, RV cylinders, and similar products generally ship via standard ground carriers such as UPS, FedEx, or comparable carriers.

Large propane tanks are delivered using professional freight carriers. Delivery is typically curbside, meaning the carrier delivers the tank to the nearest safe and accessible location.

For oversized or commercial tanks, additional unloading equipment such as a forklift, crane, or liftgate may be required. Delivery arrangements will be confirmed before shipment whenever applicable.

Shipping Charges

Shipping charges are calculated based on:

  • Product size and weight

  • Delivery destination

  • Shipping method

All shipping costs are calculated and displayed during checkout or included in your quotation before payment is completed.

Where additional freight services are requested, including residential delivery, liftgate service, limited-access delivery, or remote-area delivery, any applicable charges will be disclosed before shipment.

Applicable sales tax, where required by law, is calculated during checkout.

Delivery

For freight deliveries:

  • The carrier may contact you to schedule a delivery appointment.

  • Someone aged 18 years or older must be present to receive and sign for the shipment.

  • Delivery is curbside unless additional services have been arranged in advance.

Please ensure the delivery location is accessible for a freight truck.

If delivery cannot be completed because of an inaccessible location or an incorrect delivery address, additional carrier charges may apply before rescheduling.

Estimated Delivery Times

Estimated delivery includes order processing time plus carrier transit time.

Ground Shipments

  • Processing: 2–3 business days

  • Transit: 5–8 business days

Please note that delivery estimates are not guaranteed and may be affected by weather, holidays, carrier delays, or other circumstances beyond our control.

Inspect Your Shipment

Please inspect your shipment carefully before signing for delivery.

If you notice any visible damage:

Prompt reporting allows us to assist with the carrier’s inspection and claims process.

Tracking Your Order

Once your order has shipped, we will send tracking information by email.

For freight shipments, we will provide the carrier’s name and shipment reference information whenever available.

Incorrect Shipping Address

Please verify your shipping address before placing your order.

Propane Tank Marketplace is not responsible for delays or additional shipping charges resulting from incorrect or incomplete shipping information provided during checkout.

If a shipment is returned because of an incorrect address, additional shipping charges may apply before reshipment.

Order Changes & Cancellations

If you need to modify or cancel your order, please contact us as soon as possible.

Changes can usually be accommodated before an order has been processed or released to the shipping carrier.

Orders that have already shipped are subject to our Returns and Refund Policy.

Customer Responsibility

Customers are responsible for ensuring propane tanks are installed, inspected, and used in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Professional installation by a licensed propane technician is strongly recommended.
